Project Statement

"This collection of images illustrates an inner experience using scenes from my external environment during my time abroad in Provence. Upon my arrival, I was reminded of the bittersweet truth that your roots remain with you wherever you’re planted. These images draw focus on the relationship between light and darkness and how the simultaneous experience of both can cause friction within. Taken in a variety of environments, the photographs emphasize how the feelings that come with a divided mind linger wherever you go and how choosing whether to remain hidden or step into the light is a balancing act."
